About The Bank Hotel

A pleasant stay completely ruined at the final moment by an unprofessional check-out encounter. ☺Good location and charming setting. The hotel room itself was large, very comfortable and clean. Good facilities within the room for a comfortable stay. ☹(1) Fruit & veg not delivered on the day, so breakfast options were limited. (2) We had a generally good stay, but the final interaction left a very sour taste in our mouths. Our checkout time was 11:00 AM, and we admittedly ran a few minutes behind schedule. At 11:23 AM, we were literally about to step out of the room with our bags to head downstairs when a staff member knocked on the door. Instead of a polite greeting or offering to help with our luggage, they accusingly stated, "You should have checked out 23 minutes ago." While we take responsibility for the slight delay, this confrontational approach was completely uncalled for - especially since we were already actively departing. The cover of the room brochure states, "Leave Replenished." We certainly did not leave feeling like that; instead, we left feeling incredibly uncomfortable, unwelcome, and stressed. In the hospitality industry, a final interaction heavily influences a guest's overall impression. Lecturing a guest who is already on their way out is incredibly poor customer service. It would be beneficial for the hotel, if Management looked into staff training and etiquette. This hostile encounter completely ruined what would have otherwise been a positive review.

It would have been a most enjoyable stay had it not been for the issues. ☺The manager was very welcoming, showed us to our room, + the cot we’d requested was there for us arriving. There was a buzzer in the room to press, if we needed anything, which I thought was a reassuring + nice touch. Breakfast was very nice, with good quality products, with plenty to choose from, although I really did miss my mushrooms 😂 because they hadn’t been delivered ☹️. The service for breakfast was good, swift, + well catered for. It was very dog friendly, even allowing them in the dining room 😁. All in all, the front of house people were lovely, polite + welcoming. ☹Disappointingly, our room was not very clean. At first, I noticed the skirting board were dusty in the obvious places, + the bedside tables + lamps were too. But the bed, linen, + towels were clean. The bed was a lovely big bed but the mattress was a bit lumpy as there were craters (for want of a better word) on each side of the bed. There was no chance of us falling out 😂. When we returned to the room, later in the day in time for bed, our little one was playing with their toys on the bed. They were driving their little train along the top of the headboard + the dust was flying off! On seeing this I used some baby wipes to clean it off. I then decided to continue cleaning the areas around the sleeping area. At this point I was feeling very disappointed + decided to take one of the wipes I had used downstairs to show the manager. He agreed it was not acceptable, said he would speak to housekeeping, + offered to come up + clean it with a cloth. At this point, it was not convenient to do so, with the little one needing bed. Of course, after this, I started noticing other areas, + in the bathroom. The following morning we were leaving for the day in a rush. When returning, I noticed that the room was in the same condition as it was when we left, + felt even more disappointed that there hadn’t been anyone in to clean it! On going down for breakfast the next morning, I noticed that you had to turn the do not disturb card, hanging on the wall outside of the room if you wanted your room servicing ……….but after speaking to the manager the night before, I shouldn’t have thought I’d have to turn the card for the room to be cleaned.

The hotel suited us perfectly because of its quiet and attractive location. ☺A really lovely location set back in the trees a short distance from the Hastings to Rye road. All the staff we met were really friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable, just the right temperature for us and even though we faced the front there was never any traffic noise. The Full English breakfast was tasty and set us up for the day perfectly. We always like to be able to get out and about and we did a great circular walk on footpaths starting directly opposite the hotel entrance.

Very disappointing if we could have found somewhere else at short notice we would have left ☺Nothing ☹Very shabby run down. Strong smell of damp. Hadn’t been cleaned for a long time. No mattress protector on bed which is a basic hygiene issue. We found period blood on toilet seat, pubic hair in bath and snot on the side of the sink. I have seen better student accommodation.

☺Das Haus ist sehr schön und dir Lage ist gut. ☹Das Management funktioniert nur mäßig. Am Abreisetag mussten wir lange auf das Frühstück warten. Zimmerservice brauchen wir eigentlich nie, aber der Papierkorb könnte mal geleert werden.

Wir waren auf der Durchreise und wussten was uns erwartet. ok für einen kurzen stop. ☺Die Lage ist sehr gut und sehr ruhig. Das Personal sehr freundlich. ☹Wir waren jetzt das dritte mal zu Gast gewesen und ich muss sagen der Zustand des Hotels wurde leider nicht besser. Alles in allem müsste dringend von Grund auf saniert werden oder mindesten alles gründlich gereinigt. Im Frühstücksraum hängen die Spinnweben an der Decke und die Platzdeckchen sind voller Speisereste. Das ganze Anwesen könnte sehr schön sein aber es liegt alles mögliche auf dem Gelände und der kleine Park ist verwildert. Es tut mir wirklich leid das sagen zu müssen und hoffe es wird wieder besser.

☺The building has enormous character and contains really tasteful furniture and antiques. The staff are amazing. It's really peaceful and in a brilliant location. ☹Nothing.

Lieve mensen, maar sterk verouderd hotel ☺Personeel is super aardig. ☹Kamer was heel klein. Badkamer stonk, waarschijnlijk door de grote kieren in de vloer. Een bar zonder bier, een ontbijt zonder normale yoghurt of gekookt ei. Pand en tuin verwaarloosd.
